A number of UK firms have made it into a top 100 list for their actions on tackling climate change.
Firms including Unilever, Sainsbury’s and Sky UK have made their way into the ‘2015 Climate A List’. Not-for-profit organisation CPD compared environmental data from nearly 2,000 companies this year with around 1,800 firms in 2010 in order to compile the list.
The report states that 94% of companies assign board or senior management responsibility to climate change, with three quarters of firms offering incentives for improving climate performance.
It also found that nine in every ten companies have activities in place “which are lowering their carbon output compared with less than half in 2010.”
Other companies that appear in the list include Nestle, LG, Schneider Electric and L’Oreal.
Paul Dickinson, Executive Chairman at CPD, said: “The influence of the corporation is mighty. The momentum of business action on climate change suggests we have reached a tipping point where companies are poised to achieve their full potential.
“They need ambitious policy at both a national and international level that will support them in this regard and will catalyse participation from industry at scale.”
